![]() If you’re aiming to run Windows alongside Mac OS X on the same Mac, you’ll want to create a bootable Windows 10 installer drive out of a USB drive, which can be done quickly from Mac OS X and the Boot Camp Assistant tool. Windows 10 is able to run on all modern Mac hardware in a dual boot environment thanks to Boot Camp. You may also be preparing the drive for use as, say, a storage device for a media player or to record TV programmes on a TV with a USB port. The main reason for formatting a USB drive as Fat32 on a Mac is that you want to be able to use the drive on a Windows PC, as well as a Mac - perhaps to transfer files between the two machines. Run this command using the correct disk number for your USB. Note that you should replace the disk2 with the name of the your drive from step 3 if it wasn't disk2. This is a format that Windows 10 will recognize. Next format your USB drive to Windows FAT32 format. Step 4: Format your USB Drive to work with Windows. ![]() This process may take a long time to complete (you can click the Stop button to interrupt this process). The Windows files are copied to the USB drive. At the Create Bootable USB Drive for Windows Installation step, choose the Windows ISO image and the USB drive, then click Continue.
